Overview

The Pedagogical Institute for Taining (PIT) is the first private educational institution specialized in both educational research and training in Mauritania. In fact, through its mission of injecting a new dynamism into the sector of education through the implementation of programs and activities focused on research, consulting, training of teachers, and capacity building of the workforce in general, the PIT is the first of its kind to adopt a holistic approach to the different components of education by integrating quality assurance, which is essential for the sustainability of any impact on development.

Our team

The creation of the PIT comes to crystallize an innovative vision of a group of Mauritanian research professors who strongly believe in the need for an independent organization that can provide a wide range of educational services, guaranteeing at the same time, important support for the country’s development process.

Our mission

The main objective of the Pedagogical Institute for Training  is to contribute to narrowing the gap between the Mauritanian educational system and the international successful educational systems with the revitalization of 2 educational services to education in Mauritania: Educational Research and Training.

  1.  Educational research

It is well known that improving the quality of education passes obligatorily through scientific research. Indeed, it is by exploring new horizons and being part of a logic of reflection and self-criticism on our practices that we can move forward and put in place strategies for our professional development and contribute to the development of the sector of education. To this end, the PIT undertakes to achieve the following objectives:

  • 1. Publication of an annual journal specialized in the field of education: (Journal of Studies and Educational Research) in order to provide a forum for the fruitful exchange among academics through the dissemination of their scientific contributions.
  • 2. Education Consultancy Studies: the PIT allocates a team of national and international educational experts to ensure that all necessary consultations are conducted for Mauritanian public and private institutions. Among the consultancy studies provided: Feasibility studies, Assessment and monitoring, Prospective studies, Designing, and developing and evaluating curricula.
  • 3. Helping students integrate into educational institutions and follow appropriate programs: the PIT seeks to collect the information of educational institutions for the purpose of offering the necessary consultancies for the students and/or their families in order to choose the school, the college or other programs likely to reinforce the academic and social development of the student.
  1. Training

This component covers 3 main areas: Vocational Training, International Annual Congress on education in Mauritania and Language Training

1.Vocational Training: With regard to this, the The Pedagogical Institute for Taining (PIT) offers:

Training courses for educational staff (teachers, administrators, and workers) from all levels of education in the public and private sectors in order to enhance their abilities and make their institutions more efficient. The PIT also offers training courses in management and institutional development for directors, managers and other employees in the Services sector in Mauritania.

Training project for the integration of unemployed graduates: In addition, the PIT runs a training project for the integration of unemployed graduates into education. This project aims at cooperating with the Mauritanian private institutions to employ unemployed graduates in educational professions. At the request of these institutions, the insitute trains groups of unemployed graduates to fill vacancies in the field of education.

  1. International Annual Congress on education in Mauritania:In order to strengthen the capacity of human resources working in the education and services sector in Mauritania, the PIT organizes an annual international congress on education in Mauritania. This congress is an ideal opportunity to share the participants’ knowledge and experiences by giving them a space to discuss issues related to education in Mauritania. In addition to providing access to networks working in education, the annual International Congress aims to promote the concept of sharing good practices as the basis for all development programs.
  2. Language Training: As for this area, (languages), the PIT provides training courses for teaching English, Arabic, and French to interested Mauritanian institutions and citizens. These smart courses ( i.e that meet the special needs of learners) can be offered online, or physically on the premises of center or in a blended mode.

 Partnership and Membership

It goes without saying that the success of all these projects depends on better cooperation between the different stakeholders in education, individuals and both public and private institutions, through win-win partnership. In order to create such partnership, the PIT invites educational institutions and local and international organizations working in the field of education to share its vision through memoranda of understanding, agreements, and contracts. In addition, in order to create and support networks advocating educational reforms, the PIT also invites individuals to adopt its holistic vision of education through annual memberships that provide free copies of the annual journal and free access to special interest group conferences.
